The year 2023 marks the eight hundredth anniversary of the signing of the apostolic letter Solet annuere by Honorius III. By signing the document on Nov. 29, the Pope positively accepted Brother Francis' request and thus confirmed the text of the Rule and Life of the Friars Minor. The new community, which was originally called "the penitents of Assisi," received an important document, namely, a legal confirmation given by the Holy See for its form of life.
