Emil Kumka OFMConv (Province of St Anthony of Padua and St James Strzemię, Krakow) - born on 17th March 1968 in Elbląg. Secondary school 1983-1987 in Krosno (Poland). In 1987 he entered the Order of Friars Minor Conventual in the Province of St Anthony of Padua and St James Strzemię in Krakow. He made his perpetual vows on 3th October, 1992, in Krakow. Ordained to the priesthood on 18th June 1994 in Cracow.
Philosophical and theological studies: 1988-1991: Krakow at the Higher Seminary of the Friars Minor Conventual, 1991-1993: Rome at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St. Bonaventure - Seraphicum, master's degree in theology in 1993
Specialisation: 1993-1996: Rome, specialisation in History of Church at the Pontifical Gregorian University. Bachelor's degree in history (antiquity and the Middle Ages) in 1996. Doctoral studies at the same university in 1996-1997. Doctorate in theology with specialisation in Franciscanism at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St Bonaventure in 2001. Employed as assistant professor since 1999. Associate Professor at the Pontifical Theological Faculty of St Bonaventure since 2013
At present: director and editor-in-chief of the scientific journal Miscellanea Francescana (OFMConv, Rome); member of the Historical Commission of the Province of St. Anthony of Padua and St. James Strzemię in Krakow; member of the Scientific Committee of the journal Collectanea Franciscana (OFMCap, Rome); reviewer of articles for the periodicals: W Nurcie Franciszkańskim (OFMConv, Krakow); Lignum Vitae (OFMConv, Warsaw). Author and editor of nine books (2014-2023), more than fifty articles published in books and journals (Italy, Poland, Germany, USA), lecturer at historical and Franciscan conferences (Italy, Poland), author of popular-scientific essays on Franciscanism published in journals and online.
